Regional Comprehensive Planning is a cooperative agreement between neighboring municipalities to formally work together on community issues such as housing growth, economic development, traffic, infrastructure improvements, stormwater management, recreational opportunities, and natural resource protection, school planning, and public safety.

It involves creating plans and policies for a specific geographic area by collaborating with surrounding townships, for example the townships of Worcester, Skippack, Lower Providence, and Whitpain.

Regional Planning includes these considerations:

  • Land use: Plans to guide how land is used in the region

  • Infrastructure: Coordinating investments in infrastructure projects

  • Environmental protection: Protecting the environment through policies and plans

  • Historic preservation: Preserving the region's history

  • Neighborhood improvement: Enhancing the quality of life in neighborhoods
